Total Eren and Wirescan start implementation of Wirescan Digital for monitoring energised cables

Total Eren is an Independent Power Producer (IPP) which develops, finances, invests in, builds and operates renewable energy power plants on the long term at a global level.

In August 2019 Total Eren’s Greek Subsidiary Elliniki Aioliki Energeiaki (EAE) and Wirescan AS signed a contract on implementation of Wirescan Digital for online monitoring of cables in operation on one of their onshore wind farms in Greece.

The project has been launched and is already in the implementation phase with the system to be installed and commissioned by the end of 2019. Total Eren shall take a decision on expansion of the system to other onshore wind assets after the results of the first year of operation.

Wirescan Digital is the most comprehensive cloud-based solution for cable health indicators, allowing cable owners and operators to centralize all their cable condition data in one place and extract valuable information. Wirescan Digital shall provide Total Eren with information on actual cable health indicators to establish a strong decision-making tool for predictive and preventive asset management.

Wirescan Digital is based on the Wirescan proprietary and patented non-destructive LIRA Technology (Line Impedance Resonance Analysis) which is the most powerful online and offline cable condition assessment tool available to date. The LIRA Technology has been successfully utilized in renewables, oil & gas, T&D and nuclear power generation for the past ten years.

Wirescan Digital is being implemented on commercial basis for several projects worldwide by a number of early adopters. The official launch of the Wirescan Digital takes place in November 2019.

This project collaboration marks the transition from unpredictable “Fail and Fix” to safe and cost efficient “Predict and Prevent” asset management.
